BMW News: Hartge shoe horns the S85 into another tiny car
There is usually a sharp intake of breath when German tuner, Hartge gets its hands on the latest piece of BMW metal. By shoehorning a modified V10 engine from the BMW M5 into the sleek body of the new 3 Series Coupe, Hartge has produced the H50 a 404 kW E92 with devastating performance and muscular styling to match!
Hartge has been touted as a builder of cars with a wolf in sheep-- clothing flavor; the styling of the H50 V10, however, shows that the proverbial wool seems to be slipping a bit! That boot spoiler, Hartge decals and front spoiler lip are subtle yet sporty cues to this car-- credentials, but the ventilated bonnet is more of a megaphone announcement of what lies beneath the louvers.
Under the thermo-dynamically optimized bonnet sits a de-restricted version of the mighty M5 and M6-- award-winning, F1-inspired 5,0-litre V10 and thanks to reworked cylinder heads, sports camshafts and bespoke engine mapping, the unit delivers 404 kW and 520 N.m of torque. Mated with a seven-speed SMG gearbox, Hartge claim this power plant will propel the H50 to a 0-100 km/h time of 4,4 seconds and all the way to a license-endangering 320 km/h top speed.
