I was routing my cable around for the DICE iPod and popped down the cover under the steering column and found this:

It appears to be spliced into the OBD port with a couple of wires. Has anyone seen anything like this before? It is clearly NOT a bmw part as the tape/wiring job on it is a mess. I left it alone just in case. I tried searching around online but couldn't find anything.

The numbers on the front say:
4411-1101-01
Rev 1.2.3
07267
08AD81C

The numbers on the back say:
4601-1101-01
Rev 1.2.1
07266

I just realized that this may actually be the LoJack unit?!!!!! When i purchased the car they said they would install it. They just installed it the other day.

I don't have a clue as to what else it might be. I mean, it is spliced (poorly) into the OBD port. There is also a resistor between two terminals on the port/plug itself. Weird.

I'd be pissed if that was the LoJack unit. LoJacks are supposed to be hidden...not located in the first spot an experienced car theif would expect.

That is a stupid place to install the LoJack... if it indeed is a LoJack, it would have to have a FCC license number on it somewhere I would think.

There is an FCC message on the back where the barcode sticker is. It just didn't show up with the picture.

Its not a low jack the M3 I just finished had a low jack I found when I was striping it and it looked nothing like that and was located in the read of the car with an antena running to the rear under the weather striping.
