In two weeks Ferrari of North America is flying me and my photographer out to LA to spend a day in the Ferrari California for an article that I am writing.
If any of you have anything in particular that you want to know about the car please post here and let me know. I'll do my best to include it in the article.
By the way, yes, I am extremely excited that Ferrari is flying me out there to drive their car for the day!

Wow you are one lucky man.
Personally I would LOVE to see some night shots of the interior. Always see daytime shots but I truly love interiors with beautiful ambient light and such. Maybe snap some without needing to post them in the article, just to post here when you get back?
Have a good time

nice, I am curious about the exhaust note and if it turns heads as effectively as the more "extreme" ferraris do.
I've always been into the interiors too, especially the LCD gauge display thing that ferrari has been doing as of late.
Sunset Ave. from hollywood to the beach is a fantastic drive and usually has less traffic than the more popular LA canyon roads =]

I'd like to know why exactley its called a California and what ties it has to the state stylistically. What ties it has to the other " California" cars bloodline and why that state was singled out for recognition from a faraway Italian manufacturer.
Oh and try to steal me a floormat

I beleive the California moniker was originally used to indicated that it was a model designed specifically for the American Market. As the original was the 250? and it had some specific changes made to it for the USDM.
I assume they used California just as they use Italian cities and locations for their other cars, perhaps a reference to the a concentration of american westcoast racing efforts located in California during the 50-60's due to the favorable weather.
This is all speculation of course and it really probably just boils down to marketing a name.
Which is exactly what this model seems to be

On a marginally related note, I always thought the America/ Superamerica was a silly/very silly name.

yeah Superamerica was a pretty dumb name, but I did see a 575 Superamerica in Tempe not too long ago, very sexy car.
I like the styling of the California, will be very interested to read the article

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the good input. I'll try and get as much detail as possible. Won't be able to get any night shots though. I am flying in and land at LAX at 9am and have a 6pm flight home that day.
Regarding the color, I found out that it is red exterior because it was listed on the Vehicle Loan Agreement that I had to sign. No idea what the interior color is.
I have been getting input on where to go with the car, since I am not very familiar with Cali, and got some great feedback. For those that are interested, here is the route that I am planning on taking:
Route for Ferrari California
I'll put up a link the the article and photos once I get it published.
